When you’re travelling, it’s easy to be constantly on the go: go to the beach, go to the shops, go to dinner… You forget that the most important part of a holiday is to relax. So what’s the rush? With last minute flights so readily available, there’s never been a better time to book yourself in for a chilled out getaway… And Turkey could be just what the doctor ordered.

With its famed turquoise coast and rugged mountains, Turkey is a popular holiday hotspot – whether it’s soaking up the sun or trekking through the ancient ruins, there’s a lot to see and do during your stay. However, there are also plenty of holistic retreats and yoga schools to help you rest, recuperate and relax during your Turkish break.

Take a look at the cheap flights to Bodrum and check yourself in to the Yoga Centre in the nearby Gölköy Village. Situated at the foot of the Karadag Mountain, the retreat is nestled in the woods, away from the everyday distractions of tourists and village life. Find your focus with daily practices, beachside breaks and evening meditation sessions. Experienced teachers from different disciplines are on hand to help tailor the courses for your individual needs – so whether you practice Astanga or Hatha, there’s something for you.

If you need some serious R&R, Jason Vale’s Juicy Mountain Health Retreat in the south of Turkey offers a total cleansing experience – there are yoga classes, meditation, circuits, saunas and juicing workshops to help you on the road to recovery. Detox both your mind and your body with fresh juices, inspiring settings and daily yoga practices. The all-inclusive packages include fully equipped Turkish-style villas, an array of fitness and exercise classes and access to some of the most refreshing facilities. Oh, and the best thing is, guests lose an average of 7lb in 7 days, in the healthiest way possible.

For a change of pace, head down to Yuva, an eco-holiday retreat along the Lycian Coast. With rustic accommodation, village-style vegetarian meals and a yoga platform with some of the best views in Turkey, there’s no doubt you’ll be able to find some inner peace. Tucked away in the secluded Faralya area, get back in touch with nature as you free your mind and nurture your soul. The eco-resort is all about sustainable living with organic gardening, renewable energy, and healing arts. Group classes run all year round, while guests can take an ‘Independent Break’ of custom made courses at any time.

Established in 1993, the Huzur Vadisi retreat is the first of its kind in Turkey. Overlooking the spectacular Turquoise Coast, Huzur Vadisi specialises in a totally natural experience – guests stay in Turkish yurts, featuring a special “Eye of Heaven” which opens to let you sleep under the stars. The yoga shala is set amidst olive trees and vines, while a traditional wooden Köst offers shelter from the sun for a midday siesta. There’s more than enough to see around the private retreat itself (remember, you’re supposed to be relaxing), but if you’re itching to see the rest of Turkey, island boat trips are offered during the day, while walking trails will take you from your doorstep to the mountain ranges.

So this summer, take it slow and come back relaxed and rejuvenated from your trip – after all, that’s what holidays are all about.
